Word Sharing Circle (WSC) Reflection Guide for September 11, 2026 P&W

23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Community Word: God's love calls us to a life of continuous conversion.

Theme: Our conversion leads us to lovingly guide one another toward holiness.

Promise: “… if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father.” (Mt. 18:19)

Reflection

Conversion is not a journey that we take alone. As members of a covenant community, God's love calls us not only to grow personally in holiness but also to care for the spiritual growth of our brothers and sisters. Sometimes, however, this responsibility can be challenging. It is easier to remain silent when we see someone struggling, making harmful choices, or gradually moving away from the Lord. We may fear offending them, being misunderstood, or damaging our relationship. Yet genuine love does not simply ignore what can harm another person.

In the first reading, Ezekiel is appointed as a watchman for God's people. He is given the responsibility to warn those who have strayed from the right path. This reminds us that we are, in a certain sense, called to watch over one another – not to judge, control, or condemn, but to lovingly help one another return to God.

Jesus gives us the proper spirit and manner of fraternal correction in the Gospel. We are called first to approach our brother or sister personally and respectfully. The goal is always reconciliation and restoration, never humiliation or punishment. Loving correction requires humility because we must also recognize our own weaknesses and need for conversion. Before pointing out another person's faults, we should ask ourselves: Am I speaking out of love? Am I willing to listen? Am I praying for this person? Do I truly desire his or her healing and growth?

St. Paul reminds us that love fulfills the law. Therefore, truth and love must always go together. Love without truth can become mere tolerance, while truth without love can wound and discourage. As a BLD community, we are called to build relationships where we can honestly encourage one another, gently correct one another, when necessary, forgive one another, and walk together toward holiness.

Let us therefore not remain indifferent to the struggles of our brothers and sisters. Through prayer, encouragement, loving correction, and mutual accountability, we become instruments of God's transforming love. And as we journey together in unity and faith, Jesus assures us of His promise: “…if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father” (Mt 18:19). May we then pray for one another and trust that the Lord will lead us together into deeper conversion and holiness.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for calling us into a community where we can journey together toward You. Give us hearts that truly love our brothers and sisters, the humility to accept correction, and the courage to speak the truth with compassion. Remove from us indifference, pride, and fear. Teach us to encourage, forgive, pray for, and gently guide one another whenever we stray from Your ways. May our relationships reflect the love of Christ and help each one of us grow in holiness. Unite us in prayer and purpose, trusting in Your promise that when we come together in faith, You hear us. Amen.

Reflection Guide Questions

1. How does God call me to be more responsible for the spiritual growth and well-being of my brothers and sisters in the community?

2. When correction or guidance is needed, how can I speak the truth with greater humility, compassion, and genuine love?

Gabay sa Pagninilay para sa Word Sharing Circle (WSC)

Setyembre 6, 2026 (Siklo A, Taon II) – Ika-23 Linggo sa Karaniwang Panahon

Amen.
