Word Sharing Circle (WSC) Reflection Guide

October 18, 2026 (Cycle A, Year II) – 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Community Word: God calls us to surrender to His will, bear witness to His love and live fruitful lives for His glory.

Theme: We are sent to witness faithfully to God’s sovereignty.

Promise: "Our gospel… come(s) to you… in power and in the Holy Spirit and with much conviction." (1 Thes 1:5)

Reflection

In a world where power, success, wealth, and personal interests often shape people’s choices, what does it mean to live under the sovereignty of God? We may profess our faith and participate in worship, yet the real test of our allegiance to God is how we live each day. When worldly concerns take priority over His will, our faith can become a declaration of our lips rather than a witness of our lives.

In the Gospel, Jesus responds to the question about paying taxes to Caesar: “Then repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.” Jesus reminds us that while we have responsibilities to society, our ultimate allegiance belongs to God. We are created in His image, entrusted with gifts and opportunities, and called to use them according to His will. Acknowledging God’s sovereignty means allowing Him to govern not only our worship but also our decisions, values, relationships, and priorities.

As Christ’s followers, we are sent to witness faithfully to this truth. Our mission is not fulfilled by proclaiming the Gospel through words alone. We make God’s sovereignty visible when we choose integrity over convenience, truth over compromise, forgiveness over resentment, and humble service over personal recognition. Even when we face difficulties, opposition, or disappointments, our faithfulness becomes a testimony that God remains Lord of our lives. The way we treat others, fulfill our commitments, and persevere in service can reveal Christ more powerfully than words alone.

Yet faithful witness is not something we accomplish by our own strength. It is the work of the Holy Spirit within us. When we surrender our fears, ambitions, and plans to God, the Spirit gives us the courage to stand for what is right, the wisdom to discern His will, and the conviction to proclaim the Gospel through our words and actions. Our lives then become instruments through which others can encounter God’s presence and love.

Let us examine our hearts: Does our daily conduct reflect our belief that God is sovereign? May we renew our commitment to be authentic missionary disciples witnesses of the Lord. As St. Paul reminds us, “Our gospel… come(s) to you… in power and in the Holy Spirit and with much conviction” (1 Thes 1:5).

Prayer

Heavenly Father, You are the Lord of all creation and the sovereign King of our lives. Fill us anew with Your Holy Spirit, that we may have the courage to stand for Your truth, the humility to serve others, and the conviction to proclaim Your Gospel through our words and actions. Help us to surrender our lives to Your will and remain faithful even when the path is difficult. Let our lives bear witness to Your sovereignty and bring glory to Your holy name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection Guide Questions

1. In what area of my life do I struggle to acknowledge God’s sovereignty, and what can I do to surrender it to Him?

2. How can I witness God's sovereignty through one concrete action in my family, workplace, or community?

Gabay sa Pagninilay para sa Word Sharing Circle (WSC)

Oktubre 18, 2026 (Siklo A, Taon II) – Ika-28 Linggo sa Karaniwang Panahon
